When the seafarers started on September 10 at the Miami 2017 season

All signs point to Ali Marpet playing a new position when the Buccaneers kick off the 2017 season in Miami on September 10th. Marpet, the Buccaneers’ second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, transitioned from a tackle in college to a guard in the NFL. Entering his third season, he’s preparing for the shift from guard to center.

Linebacker Kwon Alexander, who led the NFL in solo tackles, would be a likely candidate to make the list, as would quarterback Jameis Winston, who finished just outside the top 100 a year ago. Guard Ali Marpet, cornerback Brent Grimes and tight end Cameron Brate are among other players who could make it after productive campaigns in 2016.

Last May, the Buccaneers selected Ali Marpet in the second round of the NFL Draft, making him the highest-drafted player in NFL history to come out of a Division III school. Marpet played his college football at Hobart College in upstate New York. Somewhat under-sized, he didn’t have a single Division 1 offer to play football.

After selecting Jameis Winston with the first overall pick in last year’s draft, the Buccaneers immediately turned to the offensive line, selecting tackle Donovan Smith and guard Ali Marpet in the second round.

That will obviously be a serious challenge for the Buccaneers’ offensive line, the exact shape of which is still not determined. Williams will probably spend a lot of his time rushing against the three interior linemen, and Tampa Bay’s coaching staff plans to experiment with different lineups for those spots this spring and summer. The holdover group would be Ali Marpet at right guard, Kevin Pamphile at left guard and Joe Hawley at center, but the versatility of Marpet and Pamphile has given the team some other options. J.R. Sweezy will obviously be fighting for a guard spot and the Bucs think Marpet may have a big future at center. Whatever the interior lineup proves to be, they won’t face many stiffer challenges in 2017 than the Jets’ Williams.

NFL.com considered Lamp to be the best guard in this year’s draft class. Just two offensive linemen were taken in the first round – Utah’s Garrett Bolles and Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk. With Ali Marpet moving over to center, Lamp could be a good fit for the Bucs at right guard. At the very least, he would provide depth behind Kevin Pamphile and Evan Smith.

Walker still has an uphill battle to stick in the NFL his second time around, but he’s got a built-in support system at One Buccaneer Place. That would be true of Reynolds, too, if the Buccaneers chose to call his name in the draft this weekend.

I do like Forrest Lamp as a prospect and I’ve heard the same Zack Martin comparisons, which is obviously very favorable. Not all scouts agree on that assessment, but he shows up in the first round of most mock drafts (perhaps in part because it’s a weak year for offensive linemen). However, I don’t think it’s a first-round need for the Buccaneers. I’ve said it repeatedly on our Insider Live show: I think the Buccaneers’ decision-makers are higher on their group of linemen than outside analysts. With Ali Marpet, Kevin Pamphile, J.R. Sweezy, Joe Hawley, Evan Smith and Caleb Benenoch around, the team is probably set on the interior line, at least for 2017. Men's Tampa Bay Buccaneers Nike Sideline Circuit Red Pullover Hoodie

Through two days of the Buccaneers’ rookie mini-camp, Head Coach Dirk Koetter likes what he’s seen from his second-round draft pick, Justin Evans. Koetter acknowledged that the rookies aren’t in pads, but some of the intangibles Evans is showing gives the Bucs’ coach a reason to be optimistic.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey authentic selected safety Justin Evans with the No. 50 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

In Round One of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers happily let one of the most highly-regarded prospects fall to them at #19. In Round Two, they simply took advantage of one of the draft’s greatest strengths.

Once again staying put at their original spot, pick #50, the Buccaneers selected Texas A&M safety Justin Evans. Just the second safety drafted by Tampa Bay in the first 50 spots in over two decades, Evans was the 10th defensive back taken in a run of 27 picks overall. The Bucs thus got a coveted boost to their secondary after using their top pick on Alabama’s O.J. Howard, the draft’s top tight end.

The Buccaneers like versatile contributors, on both offense and defense

While preparing for the NFL Draft, Chris Godwin wanted to seek out the best. He found that when he connected with former NFL All Pro and one of his idols, Calvin Johnson. Johnson worked with Godwin as he trained for the NFL Scouting Combine, helped the Penn State alumni earn a spot on the Buccaneers’ roster as a third-round draft pick.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers like versatile contributors, on both offense and defense. In the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers got another such player: Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin.

Godwin, the 84th player selected overall, may need that versatile because Tampa Bay management has suddenly done a remarkable job of amassing targets for the 23-year-old rising-star quarterback, Jameis Winston. With the free agency addition of wide receiver DeSean Jackson and the surprising first-round pick of tight end O.J. Howard on Thursday, the Bucs can trot out any number of potent offensive packages, also including Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans, pass-catching tight end Cameron Brate and productive slot receiver Adam Humphries.

For players like wide receiver Chris Godwin, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ third-round pick in last week’s draft, Friday’s field session was essentially the beginning of a dream. Godwin, who excelled at Penn State, put his foot into the One Buc place grass and took the first quick steps in his NFL path.

Cooper doesn’t have a spot on that 90-man roster yet but the Bucs could probably use experienced help at the receiver position. Even though they added DeSean Jackson in free agency and Chris Godwin in the draft, there should be quite a bit of competition to fill out the back half of the depth chart. Right now, those competitors include Freddie Martino, Donteea Dye, Bernard Reedy and Derel Walker.

Mike Alstott no longer suits up on Sundays, but football is still a big part of his life. After retiring from an 11-year career with the Buccaneers, Alstott, a member of the team’s Ring of Honor, has taken up coaching in the Tampa Bay area. Alstott currently serves as the head coach of Northside Christian High School in St. Petersburg, where his son is the team’s starting quarterback.

Mike Alstott, one of the most popular players ever to don a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey, has made the Bay area his home and raised a family in the community that embraced him. Alstott was Chicago-born and raised, however, and that implies a certain ethos of toughness and passion, particularly on the football field.

Former Buccaneer teammates Mike Alstott, Derrick Brooks and Dave Moore have sons who, at the very least, will be following in their footsteps as far as playing college football. For Alstott and Brooks, their sons will even be attending their own alma maters. Whether that leads to careers in the NFL, and specifically with the Bucs, remains to be seen and is ultimately irrelevant. What pleases the three former Bucs the most is that their children will get to experience college football while also pursuing higher education. Nike Buccaneers #40 Mike Alstott Black Youth Stitched NFL Limited 2016 Salute to Service Jersey

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers signed veteran cornerback Robert McClain, who has primarily played for Atlanta and Carolina since entering the league in 2010. McClain has more experience than most of the team’s cornerback reserves, with 80 games played and 23 starts, and he specifically has experience in Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith’s system. McClain played three seasons in Atlanta (2012-14), all while Smith was the head coach.

The linebacker position even has an open starting spot, as free agent Daryl Smith has not been re-signed. Smith started at strongside linebacker for the Buccaneers in 2016; now that spot will likely be a competition between such players as 2016 draftee Devante Bond, 2017 third-round pick Kendell Beckwith and holdovers Cameron Lynch and Adarius Glanton. Still, Brown, Bullough and Magloire can dream not only of making the team but perhaps making a quick impact on defense.

Of the Buccaneers’ six draft picks, four were able to participate in rookie mini-camp. McNichols, the Bucs’ fifth-round pick, and Kendell Beckwith, who Tampa Bay selected in the third round, were both sidelined as they recover from injuries. McNichols hopes to be back for the start of training camp while Beckwith, who suffered a torn ACL at the end of the 2016 season, wouldn’t put a timetable on his return. “It’s hard just having to watch everybody,” McNichols said, “but at the same time I’ve just got to trust the process and get back when I can.”

O.J. Howard would be a top-ten pick in this year’s draft

May 11th, 2017

The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone, with the Buccaneers adding six new players to their roster. Among those picks was O.J. Howard, a tight end out of Alabama who many analysts believed could have been a top-five pick. The Buccaneers selected Howard at No. 19, a pick that many media members considered to be the best of the entire draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper said that the Bucs’ first-round pick was “in the running for the best pick in the draft” while NFL.com’s Adam Schein declared that the Buccaneers are headed for the playoffs after a successful draft.

Last December, Alabama and Florida met in the SEC Championship Game for the second year in a row. The combined rosters for the Crimson Tide and the Gators at that time featured 18 players who would be drafted the following spring, including five eventual first-round picks.

Alabama tight end O.J. Howard and Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis were two of those future first-rounders, with Howard going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at #19 and Davis coming off the board just two picks later thanks to the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately for Davis, an injury kept him off the field for that game last December, while Howard caught two passes for 41 yards in Alabama’s lopsided 54-16 victory.

Both the Buccaneers and the Lions hope their prized first-round rookies are still on the field to face each other this coming December, almost exactly a year after that 2016 SEC Championship Game. In fact, Howard-vs.-Davis is just one a number of potential all-rookie showdowns that could have a big impact on Tampa Bay’s 2017 season. Below, we list one such rookie duel for each of the Bucs’ six 2017 draft picks, assuming they all make the regular-season roster. The matchups are listed in chronological order, ending with that potential Howard-Davis matchup.

O.J. Howard jersey mens

When Jameis Winston entered the NFL, much was made over Florida State’s complex playbook, which many felt would help Winston’s transition to the NFL. That proved to be accurate as Winston went on to pass for more than 4,000 yards during his rookie season. Howard, the Bucs’ first-round draft pick, believes he’s in a similar situation. “[The playbook is] very similar,” Howard said. “Very similar, just different names, different terminology. That’s what makes it kind of easy right now, because it’s kind of a similar to the offense we ran at Alabama.”

That’s the number that new Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey china tight end O.J. Howard will wear as he begins his professional career. The Buccaneers drafted the Alabama tight end with the 19th overall pick last Thursday night and have big plans for him in what is potentially a very explosive offense. Nike Buccaneers #3 Jameis Winston Black Men's Stitched NFL Limited Gold Salute To Service Jersey

Many believed Alabama tight end O.J. Howard would be a top-ten pick in this year’s draft, pushing him far out of reach for the Buccaneers at No. 19. But with three quarterbacks going in the top half of the first round on Thursday night, Howard began to fall. The Buccaneers ultimately were able to secure the player unanimously considered to be the best tight end in this year’s draft, and the Bucs’ players and media were excited about the team’s selection.

That could include trying Kevin Pamphile, who started at left guard last season, back on the edge, where he played in college. Caleb Benenoch, a 2016 sixth-round pick, also played both tackle and guard at UCLA. Wester, however, is the one true tackle on the current depth chart behind Dotson and Donovan Smith.

Even if the Buccaneers end up with the same primary starting line as a year ago – LT Donovan Smith, LG Kevin Pamphile, C Joe Hawley, RG Ali Marpet and RT Demar Dotson – the different combinations they try in the coming months could end up being relevant during a long season.

Nike Buccaneers #3 Jameis Winston Black Men’s Stitched NFL Limited Salute to Service Jersey

The Buccaneers did not have a first-round pick in 2013, having traded it to the Jets for cornerback Darrelle Revis. The team hit big on Evans in 2014, and that could begin a trend of option years for the team, as early returns on 2015 first-rounder Jameis Winston and 2016 first-rounder Vernon Hargreaves have been very good.

Just 23 years old, Evans is a key part of an exciting young core on offense for the Buccaneers. He and the 23-year-old Winston have helped Tampa Bay’s offense record two of the top three total yardage and passing yardage season totals in franchise history. Winston is the first quarterback in league history to open his career with consecutive 4,000-yard passing seasons, and the Buccaneers have made an effort to surround him with an increasingly potent array of weapons. Most recently, Tampa Bay used free agency to add a premier big-play receiving threat in wide receiver DeSean Jackson. The 10th-year veteran adds explosiveness to an offense that also features such promising young players as tackle Donovan Smith, guard Ali Marpet, tight end Cameron Brate and wide receiver Adam Humphries.

Evans, though, is sure to remain Winston’s favorite target. That will likely be true through the 2018 season, at least, and the Bucs hope it will remain so well beyond then.

Tampa Bay Pirates announced that they have signed the kicker Roberto Aguayo

With Doug Martin sidelined by a hamstring strain and Charles Sims on injured reserve, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knew they would have to lean on Jacquizz Rodgers on Monday night if they hoped to establish a rushing attack. And lean on Rodgers they did.

Running back Jacquizz Rodgers had a career day against the 49ers in Week 7, rushing for 154 yards. Rodgers hadn’t rushed for 100 yards or more in a game since debuting as a rookie in 2011, but has rattled off back-to-back 100-yard games in his last two with the Buccaneers.Nike Buccaneers #22 Doug Martin Lights Out Black With Hall of Fame 50th Patch Men's Stitched NFL Elite Jersey

Rodgers’ performance was strong, Pro Football Focus graded him as one of the ten-best players in the entire league, regardless of position. Rodgers came in at No. 9 on the list.

Jacquizz Rodgers is stepping up in the absence of Doug Martin and Charles Sims. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers actually hope he follows in the footsteps of Fozzy Whittaker, Christine Michael, Ezekiel Elliott, David Johnson and LeSean McCoy.

That first pair of backs represented the Buccaneers’ outstanding 1-2 punch returning from 2015, as Martin and Sims were the only pair of running back teammates to each surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year. However, Sims is now on injured reserve with a knee ailment and Martin is out indefinitely after aggravating a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since Week Two.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey have gone from light on tailbacks to fully stocked in less than a week. On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of sixth-year veteran back Jacquizz Rodgers, who played his first four seasons for division-rival Atlanta. Rodgers fills the roster spot created on Monday when defensive end Jacquies Smith was placed on injured reserve.

Jacquizz Rodgers signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with little fanfare early last September, then proved to be an invaluable addition to a depleted backfield. Now Rodgers has signed with the Buccaneers again, and this time it’s bigger news.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed kicker Roberto Aguayo, the second of the team’s two second-round selections in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Through the first 19 quarters and 12 minutes of his NFL career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo had misfired on four of seven field goals and one of nine extra point tries. Fortunately, at that point, there were still three minutes left in the NFL’s Week Five schedule.

The Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers, 17-14, on Monday Night Football on October 10 when Aguayo drilled a 38-yard field goal down the middle as time expired. That result sent the Bucs into their bye week happy and may have been the turning point for the rookie kicker.

The Buccaneers went on the road to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, with extra help from outstanding play in the kicking game from rookie Roberto Aguayo. Aguayo was perfect on all four of his field goal attempts and added an extra point, accounting for 13 of the Buccaneers 19 points in the victory.

After kicking the game-winning field goal in the Buccaneers’ Week 5 victory over the Panthers, Roberto Aguayo has been nominated for the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Week award. Aguayo booted a 38-yarder as time expired to send the Buccaneers home with a victory over the defending conference champions.

Cameron Brate jersey

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate caught five passes for 67 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos, with four of those five receptions going for at least 13 yards and a first down. In his last two games, Brate has hauled in 10 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

In a few short months, the Buccaneers have built an impressive unit around Jameis Winston. At 6-foot-6, Howard will be a difficult player to defend in the red zone, especially with opponents targeted on Mike Evans’ who’s 6-foot-5 himself. Winston has used his tight ends well in the past, tossing eight touchdowns to Cameron Brate a year ago. If Evans isn’t the Bucs’ leader in touchdown catches, Howard will be.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday that six players had signed the one-year qualifying offers extended to them prior to the start of free agency. QB Ryan Griffin was a restricted free agent, which meant he could negotiate contract offers with other teams with Tampa Bay retaining a right-of-first-refusal on any signed deals. Cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah, tight end Cameron Brate, linebacker Adarius Glanton, wide receiver Adam Humphries and wide receiver Freddie Martino were exclusive rights free agents who could only negotiate with the Buccaneers.

Tight end Cameron Brate left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game jersey on Saturday with a back injury, but not before he caught his eighth touchdown pass of the season. If Brate is able to play in the Buccaneers’ season finale on Sunday, he’ll have a shot at a franchise record and a notable NFL accomplishment.

Adam Humphries was talking to a lone reporter on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice field on Wednesday when Dirk Koetter spotted the pair and veered over. Koetter jokingly called out to another knot of media members to come over and make it a proper press conference. Maybe the Buccaneers’ head coach knows it’s just a matter of time before Humphries starts drawing a crowd.Nike Buccaneers #19 Mike Williams Orange Alternate Men's Stitched NFL Game Jersey

“Let’s just end the big mystery about this number-three wide receiver, okay: Adam Humphries is going to be our number-three wide receiver,” said Koetter. “[If] you talk about the definition of a consistent player, there’s Adam Humphries’s picture right there, [a] consistently strong player. Adam’s going to be our slot receiver and then the battle for four, five, six, and beyond, there’s some really good competition.”

Adam Humphries practiced and Demar Dotson did not, but in the end neither one was cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol in time to suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday against New Orleans.

As was evident since Friday’s injury report, the Buccaneers’ offense will be without three key pieces: right tackle Demar Dotson, tight end Luke Stocker and wide receiver Adam Humphries. Veteran Gosder Cherilus will take over for Dotson on the Bucs’ line, making his first start of the season. With Humphries out and Cecil Shorts on injured reserve, the Buccaneers will look to integrate the newly-promoted receiving duo of Josh Huff and Donteea Dye into the passing attack.

Wide receiver Adam Humphries missed one game due to a concussion he suffered in San Diego in Week 13, the first concussion of his football career. It looks like he won’t miss a second game.

Nike Buccaneers #19 Mike Williams Orange Alternate Men’s Stitched NFL Game Jersey

On Thursday, Humphries confirmed that he has finished and been cleared by the NFL’s concussion protocol, a process that began on December 4 when he was first injured. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ third-leading receiver returned to practice the next week after missing the team’s Wednesday workout but was not cleared in time to play in last Sunday’s win over New Orleans.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have five wide receivers ready to go when they face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but the fifth wideout will be Freddie Martino, not Donteea Dye.

On Saturday, a day after arriving in California for their Week Seven matchup with the 49ers, the Buccaneers tweaked a receiving corps that has been in flux all week, waiving Dye and promoting Martino back to the active roster. Dye had just returned to the team this week, first as a member of the practice squad before his own midweek promotion to the 53-man roster.

After an injury-plagued game in Arizona on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted first-year wide receiver Freddie Martino from the practice squad to the active roster. Linebacker Josh Keyes was waived to make room for Martino on the 53-man squad, and second-year defensive end Ryan Russell took Martino’s spot on the 10-man practice squad.

Charles Sims also missed a good portion of the season due to injuries

May 4th, 2017

In last Sunday’s loss at Dallas, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers snapped the ball on first down 26 times, and on 14 of those occasions Jameis Winston handed off to either Doug Martin or Charles Sims. Of the 12 times the Buccaneers passed on first down, five came in the final two minutes of either half. In other words, playing in a game that was within one score for most of the night, Tampa Bay made a point of presenting a balanced offense.

As expected, running back Charles Sims has been activated from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ injured reserve list and will be available to play on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Wide receiver Vincent Jackson and running back Charles Sims were held out of practice on Tuesday, and both may miss Thursday’s preseason opener in Philadelphia.

Jackson, a 12th-year NFL veteran, has been given “veteran days” off in the past in an effort to keep him fresh for the regular season. In this case, however, his absence was injury related.

Rodgers re-signed with the Buccaneers as soon as he could, on March 9. Whether or not the team foresees him as their lead back to start the season, he is at least a strong safety net. His 560 rushing yards last season were a career high but did not seem fluky in the least. He simply got an opportunity to be an every-down back for the first time and ran with it.

Charles Sims also missed a good portion of the season due to injuries. Assuming he’s healthy to start the 2017 season he may be best cast as an outstanding complement to the lead back, as he was in 2015 when he and Martin both topped 1,000 yards from scrimmage.

The Buccaneers might already have a similar player in Charles Sims as a quick running back that can be devastating in the receiving game. But if you consider McCaffrey to the Bucs are more of a slot receiver/RB hybrid with special teams return ability, it starts looking like a better match. The Bucs’ had a less-than-stellar return game last season and McCaffrey could can in and win that job.NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers #34 Charles Sims Snapback Adjustable Stitched Player Hat - Red White

Will he lead the team in rushing yards? Maybe, but the Bucs’ backfield is getting full with Doug Martin, Charles Sims jersey and Jacquizz Rodgers still on the roster. McNichols will likely have a large role in the Bucs’ running game, but his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield could result in his getting more looks than any Buccaneer running back.

That could literally be the case if former Canadian Football League standout Derel Walker makes the most of his second crack at the NFL. Evans and Walker were the primary targets for quarterback Johnny Manziel in 2013, on an A&M offense that averaged more than 44 points per game. Evans led the Aggies with 1,394 yards and 12 touchdowns on 69 receptions; Walker was second with 51 grabs for 818 yards and five scores. The following spring, Evans was drafted seventh overall by the Buccaneers and Manziel went to the Browns at #22. Walker was not drafted, perhaps in part due to a 4.65-second showing in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, but he signed as a rookie free agent with the Tennessee Titans.

After taking the Canadian Football League by storm, Derel Walker is getting another shot at the NFL.

While Evans went on to immediate stardom, topping 1,000 yards as a rookie and scoring 12 touchdowns, Walker found himself waived by the Titans near the end of the preseason. His next move was to try the CFL, and that proved to be an excellent career choice. Over the next two seasons, Walker racked up huge numbers for the Edmonton Eskimos: 198 catches for 2,699 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Eskimos let him out of his contract a few weeks early this winter so he could rekindle his NFL dreams, and seven different teams gave him a tryout in December and January.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed veteran wide receiver Vincent Jackson on injured reserve due to a knee injury he sustained during the team’s Monday Night Football win over the Carolina Panthers on October 10.

Now, virtually any Buccaneers fan would be able to identify the owner of the first line as Vincent Jackson who, in his 12th NFL season and fifth year in Tampa, is clearly the dean of his position group. If the second line is harder to pinpoint, that’s because we cheated. That’s actually the combined career totals of all the other receivers on Tampa Bay’s roster.

An injury on the practice field Tuesday led to a trio of roster moves for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday, all related to the wide receiver position.

Wideout Donteea Dye was hurt during Tuesday’s practice and has been placed on injured reserve, bringing his season to an end. The Bucs filled the resulting opening on the active roster and the fifth spot on the receiving corps by promoting first-year wide receiver Bernard Reedy from the practice squad. And, to keep the overall numbers at wideout the same, the team signed former Tampa Bay Storm receiver Kendrick Ings to the practice squad, replacing Reedy.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers named their game-day inactives on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff of their Week 17 contest at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. NFL teams are required to reduce their active rosters to 46 players for each regular-season game.

Though the Buccaneers have recently placed a handful of players on various reserve lists, including running backs Doug Martin and Charles Sims, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers jerseys only player on their active roster who is out of the season finale due to injury is defensive end William Gholston. Gholston will miss his second straight game after hurting his elbow in Week 15. Tampa Bay’s season-opening offensive line is back together, however, as right tackle Demar Dotson has returned from a three-game absence due to a concussion.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost wide receiver Cecil Shorts to a knee injury but found an immediate replacement on their practice squad in third-year wideout Josh Huff.

On Tuesday, the Buccaneers placed Shorts on injured reserve and signed Huff to the resulting open spot on their 53-man roster. The team also kept its overall wideout totals and its 10-man practice squad intact by bringing back Bernard Reedy, who went to training camp with the Buccaneers this past summer.

The Buccaneers announced today that thy have signed four players to futures contracts: defensive tackle Davon Coleman, defensive tackle Cliff Matthews, defensive end Jermauria Rasco and wide receiver Bernard Reedy.

Coleman was an undrafted rookie free agent out of Arizona State in 2014, and signed by the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent the last two seasons. He has played in four games in his NFL career and started one.

Tight end remains a mystery for the Buccaneers, and for that reason it is probably safer to go with other options. Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ nine standard points was the fifth-highest of all NFL tight ends last week, but that 30-yard score was also his only target all game. Having Seferian-Jenkins and Cameron Brate and now even Brandon Myers are red zone targets every week is a great benefit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, however that optimism does not translate to fantasy football.

Tight end Brandon Myers played out the full three-year contract he got as an unrestricted free agent in 2014 but become a UFA again on March 9 and to this point has not re-signed with the team. That leaves the Buccaneers with just four tight ends on their expanded offseason roster, with former undrafted players Kivon Cartwright and Tevin Westbrook joining Brate and Stocker. Westbrook has spent the better part of the last two years on the Bucs’ practice squad, so the team has obviously seen some talent worth developing. Women's Nike Tampa Bay Buccaneers Critical Victory NFL T-Shirt Light Grey

Where does the team stand now? It’s fair to say that Doug Martin’s situation is uncertain. Sims has missed significant time due to injury in two of his three NFL seasons. Rodgers, we now know, can function as a number-one back, but it’s also true that he’s never done so for an entire season. Barber, again, has promise but is just a year removed from being an undrafted free agent. That’s just too much uncertainty for me to think the Buccaneers will completely stand pat.

Tampa Bay also tweaked its 10-man practice squad on Wednesday, signing running back Blake Sims and defensive end Deonte Gibson. In addition to the spot created by Johnson’s promotion, the team released offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson.

Rounding out the group are first-year players Russell Hansbrough, Quayvon Hicks and Blake Sims, all of whom entered the league as an undrafted free agents. Hansbrough was on and off the Bucs’ roster last year but didn’t get a chance to carry the ball. Hicks hasn’t played since a torn ACL ended his last year at Georgia in 2015; if the Bucs choose to carry a traditional fullback, he may have a shot. Sims played quarterback at Alabama but is trying to make it in the league as a ballcarrier.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed defensive end Kourtnei Brown, running back Russell Hansbrough and offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson to the practice squad and released safety Trae Elston from the practice squad.

On Monday afternoon, the Buccaneers placed running back Charles Sims on injured reserve and promoted rookie running back Russell Hansbrough from the practice squad. Sims suffered a knee injury in last Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Roster transactions on the day of the game are rare and only possible in this case because the Bucs are playing on Monday, a day when all 32 teams can make moves.

On Sunday, the Buccaneers announced the signing of eight players to the first iteration of their practice squad: running backs Peyton Barber and Russell Hansbrough, offensive linemen Josh Allen and Ben Gottschalk, wide receiver Freddie Martino, linebacker Josh Keyes, cornerback Javien Elliott and safety Isaiah Johnson. The Bucs have also agreed to practice squad terms with linebacker Micah Awe and wide receiver Jeremy Butler.

Hansbrough was promptly promoted from the practice squad to Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey china the active roster for the second time this season. One spot on the 53-man roster remains open as the Buccaneers begin a week of practice in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Rounding out the group are first-year players Russell Hansbrough, Quayvon Hicks and Blake Sims, all of whom entered the league as an undrafted free agents. Hansbrough was on and off the Bucs’ roster last year but didn’t get a chance to carry the ball.

The last time wide receiver Josh Huff touched the football during a game, it was to throw a pass. That pass, which was intended for then-Philadelphia Eagles teammate Jordan Matthews, fell incomplete in the fourth quarter of an overtime loss to Dallas nearly six weeks ago. Suffice it to say that Huff has been itching to get back on the field.

The receiving corps will have something of a new look in 2017. While Jackson comes aboard, Russell Shepard has left for the Carolina Panthers and Vincent Jackson and Cecil Shorts remain free agents. Assuming they do not return, there will be some sorting out to accomplish in the 4-6 spots. Freddie Martino also got a qualifying offer to make him an exclusive rights free agent, so he’ll get another shot after contributing a couple big plays last fall. Josh Huff didn’t play much on offense after he was released by the Eagles and signed by the Bucs at midseason but he does have 51 career NFL receptions.

Sims will join Doug Martin, Jacquizz Rodgers and Peyton Barber in the offensive backfield. Tampa Bay will also have its usual complement of five active wideouts after promoting Josh Huff and Donteea Dye during the week. Adam Humphries, who has developed into a significant weapon in the slot, will be inactive on Sunday due to a concussion.

Donteea Dye wasn’t quite ready to return to game action last weekend

Tight end Alan Cross, one of four undrafted rookies who originally made the 53-man roster, has returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a member of the practice squad.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted six players this past weekend but could easily end up with more than a half-dozen rookies on their regular-season roster.

On Monday, the Buccaneers announced that they had agreed to terms with 14 rookies who were not selected in the draft, any one of whom could follow in the footsteps of such big-time contributors as Cameron Brate and Adam Humphries, the team’s second and third-leading receivers in 2016, respectively. There is plenty of evidence that undrafted players get a real opportunity to make the team in Tampa; last year, six such players were on the roster by season’s end, including running back Peyton Barber and tight end Alan Cross.

Conte turned in the biggest defensive play of the game for the second weekend in a row. After scoring his first career touchdown on a pick-six to start the Bucs’ 36-10 rout of Chicago last Sunday, he intercepted a fourth-quarter Alex Smith pass in the end zone and returned it 55 yards to midfield. The Chiefs were threatening to take a 17-12 lead but Conte’s takeaway set up a Buccaneer drive that ended in Jameis Winston’s three-yard touchdown pass to rookie TE Alan Cross. It was Cross’s first career touchdown, on just his second NFL reception.

“That’s his play all the way,” said Winston. “Alan Cross has been working his tail off since he first stepped foot in this building. I’m proud of him and I’m proud for his family that he got his first career touchdown.”

Alan Cross is the latest example of that annual NFL long-shot story: The undrafted rookie who beats the odds to make a regular-season roster. If so, they won’t even be the longest odds he’s overcome on the football field.

Thanks to the decision to label versatile rookies Dan Vitale and Alan Cross as tight ends, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ coach for that position has a very crowded meeting room these days. According to Jon Embree, one thing about that group hasn’t changed as it has expanded this offseason: There’s a quietly valuable leader in their midst and cheap Tampa Bay Buccaneers jerseys  it might not be who you think.

Donteea Dye wasn’t quite ready to return to game action last weekend, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to give him an opportunity to get back to that level.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed their roster cutdown to 75 players on Tuesday morning by waiving second-year wide receiver Donteea Dye and rookie offensive lineman Joel Hale. The team had previously trimmed 12 players from the roster on Sunday but needed to clear two more spots before the NFL’s Tuesday afternoon deadline.

Dye, a second-year wide receiver who played in 10 games for the Buccaneers last year, was re-signed to the practice squad on Tuesday. He first returned to the team last week, signing with the practice squad on Monday and then getting a promotion to the active roster on Wednesday. However, after a week of practice it was determined that Dye needed a bit more time to round back into game shape, so his spot on the 53-man roster went instead to wide receiver Freddie Martino.

On Thursday, the Buccaneers announced that they had agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Daryl Smith. Over the course of 12 seasons in Jacksonville and Baltimore, Smith has started 172 of the 174 games in which he has played, including all 48 for the Ravens over the last three years.Nike Buccaneers #83 Vincent Jackson White Pink Women's Stitched NFL Limited Rush Fashion Jersey

Originally a second-round pick by Jacksonville out of Georgia Tech in 2004, Smith spent nine seasons with the Jaguars, including his first four under then-defensive coordinator Mike Smith. Wednesday’s signing reunites the two Smiths, as the latter is now the Buccaneers’ defensive coordinator. Under the direction of Mike Smith, Daryl Smith played in 62 games with 60 starts and combined 292 tackles with 10.5 sacks, three interceptions, 17 passes defensed and three fumble recoveries, including one returned 77 yards for a touchdown.

The Buccaneers have one of the best outside linebackers in the NFL in Lavonte David, who was rated as the No. 53 player in the league in the NFL Network’s annual Top 100. David, who has recorded 139 tackles or more in each of his four NFL seasons, was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2015. But David isn’t the only standout in the Buccaneers’ linebacker room any more. Middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, a fourth-round pick in last year’s draft, has established himself as an up-and-comer in the NFC South after recording 93 tackles during his rookie season. Tampa Bay added talented veteran Daryl Smith this offseason, who should take over the duties as the team’s strong side outside linebacker.

The two newest signees are tight end Kivon Cartwright and kicker John Lunsford

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Wednesday that they have signed two more players to reserve/futures contracts for the 2017 season, adding to the six they inked on Monday. The two newest signees are tight end Kivon Cartwright and kicker John Lunsford.

A few weeks back, we learned that Doug Martin was one of the best running backs in this year’s Madden video game. We also learned that Roberto Aguayo was one of the game’s top rookies. But now, EA Sports has released their full ratings for the Buccaneers.

Myers was once a starting tight end in the NFL with the Raiders and Giants but has served mostly as a special teams player with the Buccaneers. Still, having a player with significant experience could be a welcome addition to a tight end room that is somewhat inexperienced. Alan Cross, Kivon Cartwright and Tevin Westbrook will also be battling for roster spots.

The Bucs’ newest crop of undrafted free agents (UDFAs) includes Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau, Florida State wide receiver Bobo Wilson and Michigan State linebacker Riley Bullough. Tampa Bay also brought in a prospect from Canada, Laval tight end Antony Auclair. The full list of this year’s UDFAs is below. These additions also required the Buccaneers to create two openings on the 90-man offseason roster, which they did by waiving center Ben Gottschalk and tight end Kivon Cartwright.

The Buccaneers are taking one more tight end to camp than a year ago and are likely to keep one or two more during the regular season, but that’s mostly a matter of definition. Sixth-round pick Vitale and undrafted rookie Cross were both labeled as fullbacks heading into the draft but Koetter and his staff have lumped them in with the tight ends. The team does not have a player listed at fullback on the roster, so it may actually publish a depth chart that has two TE slots and no FB slot. If that proves to be the case, you might see three tight ends listed at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey authentic more traditional spot and then another one or two at the other one.  Women's Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium Rally Full Zip Hoodie Black

So far, so good. This time, the excitement for Cross came from a conversation he did not have with his head coach. While tight ends Danny Vitale, Kivon Cartwright and Tevin Westbrook were all let go over the two rounds of cuts that started last Sunday, Cross was one of five players the team kept at that position. There are two “TE” spots listed on the Bucs’ official depth chart; one lists Cameron Brate, Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Brandon Myers, while Cross sits behind veteran Luke Stocker at the other one.

On Monday, the Buccaneers announced the signings of six players to reserve/future contracts, all of whom finished the season on the team’s practice squad: Johnson, guard Josh Allen, guard Michael Liedtke, cornerback Cody Riggs, running back Blake Sims and tight end Tevin Westbrook.

The Buccaneers started the season with just three tight ends but had five on the 53-man roster by the time the last game was played. There were two reasons for this. One, with Seferian-Jenkins hurt but not on injured reserve for a good portion of the season, the Bucs promoted Brate and leaned on him in the passing game. Two, Westbrook, an undrafted rookie out of the University of Florida, got a promotion for the final week of the season though he did not play in that last game.
