The first of those Buccaneer takeaways came from a familiar source: linebacker Lavonte David. With three minutes left in the first quarter, David caught up with tight end Eric Ebron after a short reception and was able to poke the ball out of Ebron’s grasp. A wild scramble ensued, and after several players on both teams failed to corral the loose ball, David took care of the matter himself, falling on it at Detroit’s 39-yard line.

Clarke, Glanton and Tandy all give the Buccaneers familiar depth on defense. Clarke was fairly productive as a rotational end, Glanton filled in admirably when Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander were hurt and Tandy has plenty of productive experience as a starter. Glanton and Tandy were also valuable special-teamers last year.
Conte played in all 16 games last season and started 14, contributing 76 tackles, one interception, eight passes defensed and three forced fumbles. He finished third on the team in tackles behind linebackers Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander, and only David had more forced fumbles. Conte first joined the buccaneers in 2015 and, over three seasons, has started 38 games and intercepted five passes. Two of the other safeties on Tampa Bay’s 2017 depth chart, Keith Tandy and T.J. Ward, are due to become unrestricted free agents next Wednesday.
The exclamation point on linebacker Lavonte David’s 2017 season is the multiple forced fumbles and fumble recoveries he had this season. He had five of each. David’s five forced fumbles tied for the second-most by any player this year in the NFL. His five fumble recoveries led the league. His 11 career fumble recoveries are the second-most in team history behind only Ronde Barber.
Lavonte David has plenty of accolades to his name. He is a former All-Pro and has been selected to the Pro Bowl. He’s also recorded 139 tackles or more in four of his five NFL seasons. David is coming off of a season where he recorded a career-low 87 tackles, but that doesn’t mean he won’t return to form when the Buccaneers kick off the regular season.
“It’s been different, but sooner or later you get used to it and you don’t pay any attention to it,” linebacker Lavonte David said. “That’s what’s been happening so far. You only see them when they actually come around and you see them but other than that it’s been a really cool experience. Everybody is nice, the staff is nice and everybody has been treating us with respect.”

In his first game back against the Cardinals in Arizona, David forced not one but two fumbles, recovering one and returning it 21 yards for a touchdown. It was Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer throwing a quick slant to wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald who was then quickly taken down by David. The linebacker in turn stripped Fitzgerald of the ball as he made the tackle and scooped the ball up to run it in to the end zone. It was David’s third defensive touchdown of his career. With one more, he will tie for the third-most in franchise history.
Should David return to form in 2017, the Buccaneers’ defense has the potential to cheap Buccaneers jerseys accomplish great things. David, along with Gerald McCoy and Brent Grimes, were selected to various top 100 lists during the offseason. Alexander was on the cusp, while Noah Spence and Vernon Hargreaves look to build on successful rookie campaigns.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may add to their 2018 roster when free agency starts next week, but before that they wanted to make sure some of their own valuable contributors stuck around. On Wednesday, the Buccaneers announced that they have exercised the one-year options remaining on the contracts for tackle Demar Dotson and safeties Chris Conte and Josh Robinson.
The evening began with “Littles”, children served through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, bowling and hanging out with David, and culminated with the bowling tournament. Buccaneers cheerleaders, Captain Fear, and other members of the Bucs organization were in attendance to support David and his outreach efforts.
He knows that this year’s team is a special one and knows that the crew from NFL Films is capturing some entertaining moments. David can’t say if there’s one particular scene he hopes to see air, but is confident that the final product will be a strong representation of the team.
Gerald McCoy gets to Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan. He’s registered five sacks on the Atlanta signal caller, the most he has against any one team. The Bucs’ pass rush has struggled this season, but seemed to get going the past two games. McCoy had a significant outing in Miami, sacking quarterback Matt Moore once and recording seven combined tackles on the day. This followed a two-sack outing against the New York Jets at home in Week 10. Since 2013, McCoy has the most sacks of any defensive tackle in the league with 38.5. He’ll look to get after a familiar quarterback this weekend and add to that total.

That may not be the only set of game results that would lead to a Buccaneer playoff berth, but any alternatives are sure to be just as complicated, if not more so. This one requires 18 specific outcomes, only four over which the Bucs have any control. Needless to say, it starts with those four, a final-quarter sweep of Detroit, Atlanta, Carolina and New Orleans to end the Bucs’ season.
The defensive tackle has a special relationship with Saints’ QB Drew Brees, training with him for the past eight consecutive years. McCoy widely regards Brees with the utmost respect, while also acknowledging that both the competitors absolutely hate to lose to one other. McCoy says Brees will even give him a wink in a game should Brees make a play on him. The prolific pass rusher will be on his ‘A’ game trying to get to number nine this week, so look for that matchup to be especially pronounced as the Bucs try to increase their sack numbers.
wo weeks ago in Miami, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy accounted for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ only sack on defense in a 30-20, last-minute win. It was his fifth sack of the season, giving him at least five QB takedowns in each of the last six seasons. The first five of those campaigns ended in a Pro Bowl invitation for McCoy. The sixth should, as well, because even though his sack total does not put him among the league leaders he is still invading the backfield as frequently as almost any defender in the NFL wholesale Buccaneers jesreys.
Two games back with six to play. That’s not a great place for a team to be in, but neither is it one devoid of hope. What’s helping the Buccaneers at this moment is how they got to 4-6. A painful five-game losing streak is in the past; right now, Tampa Bay is enjoying consecutive victories for the first time in 2017.
As is clear from his multi-year lease on a Pro Bowl residence, McCoy has been one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the NFL for much of the current decade. Over the last five years, for example, he leads all NFL players at that position in sacks.
Gerald McCoy jersey cheap
However, a strip-sack, where the ball is knocked out of the quarterback’s hand but the quarterback does not go to the ground, is not a tackle for loss, nor is a sack for zero yards, such as the one McCoy had in Miami. To find out how often a defender is getting TFLs on running plays, we turn to a category called “stuffs.” Not surprisingly, even with such active linebackers as Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander on the field, McCoy leads the team this year with 5.5 stuffs. McCoy is one of only nine defenders in the entire NFL this season who have at least five sacks and at least five run-stuffs. Once again, you’ll notice the position disparity.
With the score 17-13 to start the fourth quarter, the Bucs’ defense forced a three-and-out, aided by a three-yard tackle for loss by defensive tackle Gerald McCoy on Packers’ running back Jamaal Williams.
Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, while down on sack production this season, is quietly having a great year. The five-time Pro Bowler leads all defensive tackles in number of quarterback hits in 2017. Head Coach Dirk Koetter went so far as to say that he is ‘as disruptive as he’s ever been’ in his press conference on Thursday. Koetter cited the fact that McCoy is often double-teamed, taking on two blockers himself, theoretically creating favorable matchups for his fellow defensive linemen. The Green Bay offensive line has allowed the second-most sacks on the quarterback this season with 40, so it will be a great opportunity for McCoy to get pressure on the Packers’ inexperienced quarterback.

Most NFL Draft analysts believe that the Buccaneers will use their first-round pick on a defensive player, selecting either a cornerback or a defensive end. Hargreaves and Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey, many believe, are the two-best corners entering the draft, but Ramsey could be gone by the time the Buccaneers pick at No. 9.
Evans caught four passes on seven targets for 58 yards. On defense, Hargreaves made an outstanding, touchdown-saving interception at the goal line on a pass intended for Brandon LaFell. He also had a pass breakup on third down, forcing the Bengals to settle for a field goal.
There were certainly high expectations for Vernon Hargreaves when the Buccaneers selected him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Many analysts believed Hargreaves was the best pure cover corner in the draft. By the Buccaneers selecting him, they got a player who they believed to be the best player available, and also a player at a position of need.
If there is a player that’s been most often linked to the Bucs, it’s Hargreaves. The majority of NFL Draft analysts believe that Tampa Bay will select him ninth overall, with NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah going as far as saying, “If he’s there – put the card in.”
Hargreaves said he hasn’t done anything differently this offseason. He’s just getting more comfortable, which has meant less thinking, and it’s allowed him to move more naturally and Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey cheap and play to his instincts.
Now he goes up against DeSean Jackson in practice daily. Even at 30, Jackson is considered one of the fastest receivers in the league. Hargreaves is playing faster, too, though, now that he has a better understanding of Mike Smith’s defense.
Vernon Hargreaves jersey
Whether or not Hargreaves had connected the fact that he’s widely projected to be selected by the Buccaneers and could be potentially playing with Grimes is unknown. But it would certainly make for an upgraded 1-2 punch at a position where the Buccaneers lacked continuity a season ago.
“I had my plays that I didn’t perfect the way I needed to, and that’s on me,” said Hargreaves. “That’s something I’ve got to learn, I’ve got to get better at. Watch the film, see what I did wrong and go correct it – it’s as simple as that. The game’s a little bit different from college, not too different. There’s little things that I need to start seeing more, and that will make me a better player.
Indeed, Adjei-Barimah drew praise for his strong work in May and June, and he was a surprisingly strong contributor to the defense last year as an undrafted rookie. Koetter also pointed to Grimes and Verner as two of the players who have gotten off to a fast start during the first week of camp. Hargreaves’ elevation to the front line is basically an acknowledgment that the rookie is going to have a significant role in the defense this fall, one way or the other.
And Hargreaves has obviously been making the most of his opportunities, as he did on Saturday night.
It was evident as early as June that Vernon Hargreaves was too talented to keep off the field; still unsure of Hargreaves’ exact role in the defense at that time, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Dirk Koetter nevertheless said – repeatedly – that the rookie cornerback was “going to play.”
Koetter also pointed to Grimes and Verner as two of the players who have gotten off to a fast start during the first week of camp. Hargreaves’ elevation to the front line is basically an acknowledgment that the rookie is going to have a significant role in the defense this fall, one way or the other.
With three preseason games in the books, it’s become clear why Hargreaves has continued to receive promotions. He recorded two interceptions in the Buccaneers’ preseason victory over the Jaguars and has performed well in his other two competitions.
The early hours of free agency have brought the Tampa Bay Buccaneers big help on both sides of the ball.

The Buccaneers made a big splash on the first day of free agency last week, promptly signing two key players – wide receiver DeSean Jackson and defensive lineman Chris Baker. Both players were starters for the Redskins a year ago and are expected to make an immediate impact with the Buccaneers in 2017.
It hasn’t quite reached the level of the famous franchise kickoff return drought that Micheal Spurlock finally ended in 2007, but the Bucs’ unwanted run in this category has become notable. It’s the longest drought for any team in the league, with Jacksonville having last had a 10-sack performance in 2006. The other 30 teams have all had at least one since 2010.
On Thursday afternoon, the tampa bay buccaneers throwback jersey agreed to terms with defensive lineman Chris Baker on a multi-year contract. That news came at roughly the same time the team was announcing the acquisition of big-play wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Both Baker and Jackson were unrestricted free agents, coincidentally both coming over from the Washington Redskins.
Tampa Bay’s defense engineered a stunning turnaround in the middle of Mike Smith’s first year as the coordinator last fall. Over the last eight weeks, the Buccaneers allowed the fourth-fewest points per game, forced the most turnovers and tied for fifth in sacks recorded. The team has already taken steps to keep that momentum going in 2017, with Smith returning to his post after entertaining head coaching offers and defensive end Will Gholston signing a five-year contract extension. Now, the addition of Baker to a deep and talented front line should accelerate that process even further.
Through the first 10 days of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2017 training camp, Chris Conte and Keith Tandy have been taking most of the first-team snaps at the safety position. That makes sense because both Conte and Tandy are incumbent starters from the previous season.
Chris Baker jersey cheap
Tandy’s first start of 2016 – and just the eighth of his NFL career – came in Tampa Bay’s rousing road victory at San Diego, a tight 28-21 finish that added to the Bucs’ growing playoff hopes. The game was so tight, in fact, that it was still very much in doubt until Tandy picked off a deep Philip Rivers pass intended for Dontrelle Inman. Tandy leapt for the pick and fell into the end zone, holding on as he landed with three minutes left in the game to secure the big road win.
Notably, that Pro Bowl came at the end of the 2015 season, after he had racked up 147 tackles, three interceptions, three sacks, 10 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and 13 passes defensed. Last year, David’s tackle total topped out at 87 and he had just one interception, though he did rack up 17 tackles for loss, five sacks and four forced fumbles. You can pick among those numbers to rate one season over the other, but the fact is that David himself was not satisfied in his output in his first year under Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith.
The Buccaneers have been working to build D-Line depth and a relentless pass-rush rotation for years, and it appears to be coming together nicely for the 2017 season. The latest addition is former Washington defensive tackle Chris Baker, whom General Manager Jason Licht referred to as an “elite defensive interior” player in terms of making plays in the backfield.
With the Buccaneers’ signing of Chris Baker this spring, it’s unlikely the team will target a defensive tackle with their first-round pick. But the Bucs could be in the market for a pass-rusher, and there should be plenty available when they make their selection at No. 19. Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett and Stanford’s Solomon Thomas are considered to be the two top defensive ends in this year’s class, but both will be long gone by the bottom of the first round. Tennessee’s Derek Barnett, Michigan’s Taco Charlton and Missouri’s Charles Harris could all be on the board and all three have been linked to the Buccaneers this offseason. Harris and Barnett were both listed as potential selections for Tampa Bay in this week’s Mock Draft Roundup.
In 2017, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks in unrelenting fashion, one wave after another. The recent addition of former Washington defensive tackle Chris Baker through free agency is the latest step in that plan.

The Buccaneers signed Anger as an unrestricted free agent in March after the former third-round pick played four solid seasons in Jacksonville. Anger competed with incumbent Jacob Schum throughout training camp and the preseason and emerged with the job after a strong August. That good run has continued into September as the games have begun to count.
On Tuesday, the Buccaneers announced that they had agreed to terms with former Jaguars punter Bryan Anger. Anger, a third-round draft pick by Jacksonville in 2012, currently averages 46.8 yards per punt, which are the second-most of any punter in league history.
On the other hand, there’s no guarantee of maintaining the status quo at the other two specialist spots. Long-snapper Andrew DePaola, who handled the job so well the previous three seasons, suffered a knee injury in the season finale and became a free agent on March 9. The team has since added two potential candidates for the job, both of them coincidentally former Florida State players. Dax Dellenbach, signed to a futures contract in February, is still looking for his first regular-season opportunity in the NFL. Garrison Sanborn, just added last week after he was released by Buffalo, has been the Bills’ long-snapper for every game of the past eight seasons.
Those three drafts have also produced defensive starters in Hargreaves and middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, a 2016 Pro Bowl alternate. That number could eventually double depending upon the development of Spence and Smith, the latter of whom will go back to cornerback in 2017 after an attempted conversion to safety. Devante Bond, a linebacker picked in the sixth round last spring, spent his rookie season on injured reserve.
Now that the regular season has ended, NFL.com is asking fans to select the best plays of the year, and three of their 32 preliminary selections involve the Buccaneers. Ryan Smith’s top-tapping save on a Bryan Anger punt, Jameis Winston’s escape against the Bears and Mike Evans’ one-handed catch against the Falcons have all been nominated. You can watch all three plays below, and head over to NFL.COM to vote for your favorite by clicking here.

The Buccaneers have now re-signed five of the 17 players from their 2016 roster who were due to become unrestricted free agents at the start of the new league year on Thursday. Defensive end Will Gholston and safety Chris Conte both agreed to new deals before the market opened while Robinson, running back Jacquizz Rodgers and defensive tackle Sealver Siliga have all returned since.
One of the Bucs’ eight passes defensed on Sunday was actually an interception by Bradley McDougald in the second quarter, which led to a Roberto Aguayo field goal. The Buccaneers scored a total of 13 points off three takeaways, which tied for the most the team has posted in a cheap Tampa Bay Buccaneers jerseys game this season. Two takeaways against the Rams in Week Three led to a pair of touchdowns but one of them was followed by an errant PAT, leading to a total of 13 points.
Too gracious as hosts during the first half of the 2016 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were downright ill-mannered on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. Four first-half takeaways, four sacks of Jay Cutler and a safety by the Buccaneers’ defense powered a runaway 36-10 win over the visiting Chicago Bears.
Bryan Anger was one of the NFL’s most productive punters in his first year with the Buccaneers, downing 37 punts inside opponents’ 20-yard line, the third-most in the league. He was selected as an alternate to the Pro Bowl and was the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Week 17. As the season came to a close, the Bucs inked Anger to a five-year extension. Complementing Anger was the standout play of his punt coverage team, primarily Josh Robinson and rookie Ryan Smith.
That’s our goal with Football Geekery. Each week, we’re going to give you a sampling of statistical and/or historical analysis, hopefully in a way that is relevant to the Buccaneers’ current state of affairs. This week, we look a little closer at the numbers behind the fairly obvious concept that great road success is the mark of a playoff contender. We also look at Bryan Anger’s impressive percentage of punts that go at least 50 yards and take a quick glance at the some blitz-rate numbers.
Robinson was the Buccaneers’ best punt-return “gunner” in 2016, particularly after Shepard began playing more snaps at receiver and fewer on special teams. Robinson led the Bucs and tied for ninth in the NFL with 12 kick-coverage tackles but also made an impact by repeatedly downing Bryan Anger punts inside the 20. Thanks largely to the additions of Anger and Robinson, the Buccaneers improved from 27th in the NFL net punting average in 2015 to third in 2016.

All signs point to Ali Marpet playing a new position when the Buccaneers kick off the 2017 season in Miami on September 10th. Marpet, the Buccaneers’ second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, transitioned from a tackle in college to a guard in the NFL. Entering his third season, he’s preparing for the shift from guard to center.
Linebacker Kwon Alexander, who led the NFL in solo tackles, would be a likely candidate to make the list, as would quarterback Jameis Winston, who finished just outside the top 100 a year ago. Guard Ali Marpet, cornerback Brent Grimes and tight end Cameron Brate are among other players who could make it after productive campaigns in 2016.
Last May, the Buccaneers selected Ali Marpet in the second round of the NFL Draft, making him the highest-drafted player in NFL history to come out of a Division III school. Marpet played his college football at Hobart College in upstate New York. Somewhat under-sized, he didn’t have a single Division 1 offer to play football.
After selecting Jameis Winston with the first overall pick in last year’s draft, the Buccaneers immediately turned to the offensive line, selecting tackle Donovan Smith and guard Ali Marpet in the second round.
Ali Marpet jersey mens
That will obviously be a serious challenge for the Buccaneers’ offensive line, the exact shape of which is still not determined. Williams will probably spend a lot of his time rushing against the three interior linemen, and Tampa Bay’s coaching staff plans to experiment with different lineups for those spots this spring and summer. The holdover group would be Ali Marpet at right guard, Kevin Pamphile at left guard and Joe Hawley at center, but the versatility of Marpet and Pamphile has given the team some other options. J.R. Sweezy will obviously be fighting for a guard spot and the Bucs think Marpet may have a big future at center. Whatever the interior lineup proves to be, they won’t face many stiffer challenges in 2017 than the Jets’ Williams.
NFL.com considered Lamp to be the best guard in this year’s draft class. Just two offensive linemen were taken in the first round – Utah’s Garrett Bolles and Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk. With Ali Marpet moving over to center, Lamp could be a good fit for the Bucs at right guard. At the very least, he would provide depth behind Kevin Pamphile and Evan Smith.
Walker still has an uphill battle to stick in the NFL his second time around, but he’s got a built-in support system at One Buccaneer Place. That would be true of Reynolds, too, if the Buccaneers chose to call his name in the draft this weekend.

I do like Forrest Lamp as a prospect and I’ve heard the same Zack Martin comparisons, which is obviously very favorable. Not all scouts agree on that assessment, but he shows up in the first round of most mock drafts (perhaps in part because it’s a weak year for offensive linemen). However, I don’t think it’s a first-round need for the Buccaneers. I’ve said it repeatedly on our Insider Live show: I think the Buccaneers’ decision-makers are higher on their group of linemen than outside analysts. With Ali Marpet, Kevin Pamphile, J.R. Sweezy, Joe Hawley, Evan Smith and Caleb Benenoch around, the team is probably set on the interior line, at least for 2017.
Through two days of the Buccaneers’ rookie mini-camp, Head Coach Dirk Koetter likes what he’s seen from his second-round draft pick, Justin Evans. Koetter acknowledged that the rookies aren’t in pads, but some of the intangibles Evans is showing gives the Bucs’ coach a reason to be optimistic.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey authentic selected safety Justin Evans with the No. 50 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In Round One of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers happily let one of the most highly-regarded prospects fall to them at #19. In Round Two, they simply took advantage of one of the draft’s greatest strengths.
Once again staying put at their original spot, pick #50, the Buccaneers selected Texas A&M safety Justin Evans. Just the second safety drafted by Tampa Bay in the first 50 spots in over two decades, Evans was the 10th defensive back taken in a run of 27 picks overall. The Bucs thus got a coveted boost to their secondary after using their top pick on Alabama’s O.J. Howard, the draft’s top tight end.

While preparing for the NFL Draft, Chris Godwin wanted to seek out the best. He found that when he connected with former NFL All Pro and one of his idols, Calvin Johnson. Johnson worked with Godwin as he trained for the NFL Scouting Combine, helped the Penn State alumni earn a spot on the Buccaneers’ roster as a third-round draft pick.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers like versatile contributors, on both offense and defense. In the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers got another such player: Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin.
Godwin, the 84th player selected overall, may need that versatile because Tampa Bay management has suddenly done a remarkable job of amassing targets for the 23-year-old rising-star quarterback, Jameis Winston. With the free agency addition of wide receiver DeSean Jackson and the surprising first-round pick of tight end O.J. Howard on Thursday, the Bucs can trot out any number of potent offensive packages, also including Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans, pass-catching tight end Cameron Brate and productive slot receiver Adam Humphries.

For players like wide receiver Chris Godwin, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ third-round pick in last week’s draft, Friday’s field session was essentially the beginning of a dream. Godwin, who excelled at Penn State, put his foot into the One Buc place grass and took the first quick steps in his NFL path.
Cooper doesn’t have a spot on that 90-man roster yet but the Bucs could probably use experienced help at the receiver position. Even though they added DeSean Jackson in free agency and Chris Godwin in the draft, there should be quite a bit of competition to fill out the back half of the depth chart. Right now, those competitors include Freddie Martino, Donteea Dye, Bernard Reedy and Derel Walker.
Mike Alstott no longer suits up on Sundays, but football is still a big part of his life. After retiring from an 11-year career with the Buccaneers, Alstott, a member of the team’s Ring of Honor, has taken up coaching in the Tampa Bay area. Alstott currently serves as the head coach of Northside Christian High School in St. Petersburg, where his son is the team’s starting quarterback.
Mike Alstott, one of the most popular players ever to don a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey, has made the Bay area his home and raised a family in the community that embraced him. Alstott was Chicago-born and raised, however, and that implies a certain ethos of toughness and passion, particularly on the football field.

Former Buccaneer teammates Mike Alstott, Derrick Brooks and Dave Moore have sons who, at the very least, will be following in their footsteps as far as playing college football. For Alstott and Brooks, their sons will even be attending their own alma maters. Whether that leads to careers in the NFL, and specifically with the Bucs, remains to be seen and is ultimately irrelevant. What pleases the three former Bucs the most is that their children will get to experience college football while also pursuing higher education.
On Wednesday, the Buccaneers signed veteran cornerback Robert McClain, who has primarily played for Atlanta and Carolina since entering the league in 2010. McClain has more experience than most of the team’s cornerback reserves, with 80 games played and 23 starts, and he specifically has experience in Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith’s system. McClain played three seasons in Atlanta (2012-14), all while Smith was the head coach.
The linebacker position even has an open starting spot, as free agent Daryl Smith has not been re-signed. Smith started at strongside linebacker for the Buccaneers in 2016; now that spot will likely be a competition between such players as 2016 draftee Devante Bond, 2017 third-round pick Kendell Beckwith and holdovers Cameron Lynch and Adarius Glanton. Still, Brown, Bullough and Magloire can dream not only of making the team but perhaps making a quick impact on defense.
Of the Buccaneers’ six draft picks, four were able to participate in rookie mini-camp. McNichols, the Bucs’ fifth-round pick, and Kendell Beckwith, who Tampa Bay selected in the third round, were both sidelined as they recover from injuries. McNichols hopes to be back for the start of training camp while Beckwith, who suffered a torn ACL at the end of the 2016 season, wouldn’t put a timetable on his return. “It’s hard just having to watch everybody,” McNichols said, “but at the same time I’ve just got to trust the process and get back when I can.”

The 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone, with the Buccaneers adding six new players to their roster. Among those picks was O.J. Howard, a tight end out of Alabama who many analysts believed could have been a top-five pick. The Buccaneers selected Howard at No. 19, a pick that many media members considered to be the best of the entire draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper said that the Bucs’ first-round pick was “in the running for the best pick in the draft” while NFL.com’s Adam Schein declared that the Buccaneers are headed for the playoffs after a successful draft.
Last December, Alabama and Florida met in the SEC Championship Game for the second year in a row. The combined rosters for the Crimson Tide and the Gators at that time featured 18 players who would be drafted the following spring, including five eventual first-round picks.
Alabama tight end O.J. Howard and Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis were two of those future first-rounders, with Howard going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at #19 and Davis coming off the board just two picks later thanks to the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately for Davis, an injury kept him off the field for that game last December, while Howard caught two passes for 41 yards in Alabama’s lopsided 54-16 victory.
Both the Buccaneers and the Lions hope their prized first-round rookies are still on the field to face each other this coming December, almost exactly a year after that 2016 SEC Championship Game. In fact, Howard-vs.-Davis is just one a number of potential all-rookie showdowns that could have a big impact on Tampa Bay’s 2017 season. Below, we list one such rookie duel for each of the Bucs’ six 2017 draft picks, assuming they all make the regular-season roster. The matchups are listed in chronological order, ending with that potential Howard-Davis matchup.
O.J. Howard jersey mens
When Jameis Winston entered the NFL, much was made over Florida State’s complex playbook, which many felt would help Winston’s transition to the NFL. That proved to be accurate as Winston went on to pass for more than 4,000 yards during his rookie season. Howard, the Bucs’ first-round draft pick, believes he’s in a similar situation. “[The playbook is] very similar,” Howard said. “Very similar, just different names, different terminology. That’s what makes it kind of easy right now, because it’s kind of a similar to the offense we ran at Alabama.”
That’s the number that new Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey china tight end O.J. Howard will wear as he begins his professional career. The Buccaneers drafted the Alabama tight end with the 19th overall pick last Thursday night and have big plans for him in what is potentially a very explosive offense.
Many believed Alabama tight end O.J. Howard would be a top-ten pick in this year’s draft, pushing him far out of reach for the Buccaneers at No. 19. But with three quarterbacks going in the top half of the first round on Thursday night, Howard began to fall. The Buccaneers ultimately were able to secure the player unanimously considered to be the best tight end in this year’s draft, and the Bucs’ players and media were excited about the team’s selection.
That could include trying Kevin Pamphile, who started at left guard last season, back on the edge, where he played in college. Caleb Benenoch, a 2016 sixth-round pick, also played both tackle and guard at UCLA. Wester, however, is the one true tackle on the current depth chart behind Dotson and Donovan Smith.
Even if the Buccaneers end up with the same primary starting line as a year ago – LT Donovan Smith, LG Kevin Pamphile, C Joe Hawley, RG Ali Marpet and RT Demar Dotson – the different combinations they try in the coming months could end up being relevant during a long season.

The Buccaneers did not have a first-round pick in 2013, having traded it to the Jets for cornerback Darrelle Revis. The team hit big on Evans in 2014, and that could begin a trend of option years for the team, as early returns on 2015 first-rounder Jameis Winston and 2016 first-rounder Vernon Hargreaves have been very good.
Just 23 years old, Evans is a key part of an exciting young core on offense for the Buccaneers. He and the 23-year-old Winston have helped Tampa Bay’s offense record two of the top three total yardage and passing yardage season totals in franchise history. Winston is the first quarterback in league history to open his career with consecutive 4,000-yard passing seasons, and the Buccaneers have made an effort to surround him with an increasingly potent array of weapons. Most recently, Tampa Bay used free agency to add a premier big-play receiving threat in wide receiver DeSean Jackson. The 10th-year veteran adds explosiveness to an offense that also features such promising young players as tackle Donovan Smith, guard Ali Marpet, tight end Cameron Brate and wide receiver Adam Humphries.
Evans, though, is sure to remain Winston’s favorite target. That will likely be true through the 2018 season, at least, and the Bucs hope it will remain so well beyond then.

With Doug Martin sidelined by a hamstring strain and Charles Sims on injured reserve, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knew they would have to lean on Jacquizz Rodgers on Monday night if they hoped to establish a rushing attack. And lean on Rodgers they did.
Running back Jacquizz Rodgers had a career day against the 49ers in Week 7, rushing for 154 yards. Rodgers hadn’t rushed for 100 yards or more in a game since debuting as a rookie in 2011, but has rattled off back-to-back 100-yard games in his last two with the Buccaneers.
Rodgers’ performance was strong, Pro Football Focus graded him as one of the ten-best players in the entire league, regardless of position. Rodgers came in at No. 9 on the list.
Jacquizz Rodgers is stepping up in the absence of Doug Martin and Charles Sims. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers actually hope he follows in the footsteps of Fozzy Whittaker, Christine Michael, Ezekiel Elliott, David Johnson and LeSean McCoy.
That first pair of backs represented the Buccaneers’ outstanding 1-2 punch returning from 2015, as Martin and Sims were the only pair of running back teammates to each surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year. However, Sims is now on injured reserve with a knee ailment and Martin is out indefinitely after aggravating a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since Week Two.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey have gone from light on tailbacks to fully stocked in less than a week. On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of sixth-year veteran back Jacquizz Rodgers, who played his first four seasons for division-rival Atlanta. Rodgers fills the roster spot created on Monday when defensive end Jacquies Smith was placed on injured reserve.
Jacquizz Rodgers signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with little fanfare early last September, then proved to be an invaluable addition to a depleted backfield. Now Rodgers has signed with the Buccaneers again, and this time it’s bigger news.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has signed kicker Roberto Aguayo, the second of the team’s two second-round selections in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Through the first 19 quarters and 12 minutes of his NFL career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo had misfired on four of seven field goals and one of nine extra point tries. Fortunately, at that point, there were still three minutes left in the NFL’s Week Five schedule.

The Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers, 17-14, on Monday Night Football on October 10 when Aguayo drilled a 38-yard field goal down the middle as time expired. That result sent the Bucs into their bye week happy and may have been the turning point for the rookie kicker.
The Buccaneers went on the road to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, with extra help from outstanding play in the kicking game from rookie Roberto Aguayo. Aguayo was perfect on all four of his field goal attempts and added an extra point, accounting for 13 of the Buccaneers 19 points in the victory.
After kicking the game-winning field goal in the Buccaneers’ Week 5 victory over the Panthers, Roberto Aguayo has been nominated for the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Week award. Aguayo booted a 38-yarder as time expired to send the Buccaneers home with a victory over the defending conference champions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate caught five passes for 67 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos, with four of those five receptions going for at least 13 yards and a first down. In his last two games, Brate has hauled in 10 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
In a few short months, the Buccaneers have built an impressive unit around Jameis Winston. At 6-foot-6, Howard will be a difficult player to defend in the red zone, especially with opponents targeted on Mike Evans’ who’s 6-foot-5 himself. Winston has used his tight ends well in the past, tossing eight touchdowns to Cameron Brate a year ago. If Evans isn’t the Bucs’ leader in touchdown catches, Howard will be.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday that six players had signed the one-year qualifying offers extended to them prior to the start of free agency. QB Ryan Griffin was a restricted free agent, which meant he could negotiate contract offers with other teams with Tampa Bay retaining a right-of-first-refusal on any signed deals. Cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah, tight end Cameron Brate, linebacker Adarius Glanton, wide receiver Adam Humphries and wide receiver Freddie Martino were exclusive rights free agents who could only negotiate with the Buccaneers.
Tight end Cameron Brate left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game jersey on Saturday with a back injury, but not before he caught his eighth touchdown pass of the season. If Brate is able to play in the Buccaneers’ season finale on Sunday, he’ll have a shot at a franchise record and a notable NFL accomplishment.

Adam Humphries was talking to a lone reporter on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice field on Wednesday when Dirk Koetter spotted the pair and veered over. Koetter jokingly called out to another knot of media members to come over and make it a proper press conference. Maybe the Buccaneers’ head coach knows it’s just a matter of time before Humphries starts drawing a crowd.
“Let’s just end the big mystery about this number-three wide receiver, okay: Adam Humphries is going to be our number-three wide receiver,” said Koetter. “[If] you talk about the definition of a consistent player, there’s Adam Humphries’s picture right there, [a] consistently strong player. Adam’s going to be our slot receiver and then the battle for four, five, six, and beyond, there’s some really good competition.”
Adam Humphries practiced and Demar Dotson did not, but in the end neither one was cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol in time to suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday against New Orleans.
As was evident since Friday’s injury report, the Buccaneers’ offense will be without three key pieces: right tackle Demar Dotson, tight end Luke Stocker and wide receiver Adam Humphries. Veteran Gosder Cherilus will take over for Dotson on the Bucs’ line, making his first start of the season. With Humphries out and Cecil Shorts on injured reserve, the Buccaneers will look to integrate the newly-promoted receiving duo of Josh Huff and Donteea Dye into the passing attack.
Wide receiver Adam Humphries missed one game due to a concussion he suffered in San Diego in Week 13, the first concussion of his football career. It looks like he won’t miss a second game.

On Thursday, Humphries confirmed that he has finished and been cleared by the NFL’s concussion protocol, a process that began on December 4 when he was first injured. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ third-leading receiver returned to practice the next week after missing the team’s Wednesday workout but was not cleared in time to play in last Sunday’s win over New Orleans.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have five wide receivers ready to go when they face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but the fifth wideout will be Freddie Martino, not Donteea Dye.
On Saturday, a day after arriving in California for their Week Seven matchup with the 49ers, the Buccaneers tweaked a receiving corps that has been in flux all week, waiving Dye and promoting Martino back to the active roster. Dye had just returned to the team this week, first as a member of the practice squad before his own midweek promotion to the 53-man roster.
After an injury-plagued game in Arizona on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted first-year wide receiver Freddie Martino from the practice squad to the active roster. Linebacker Josh Keyes was waived to make room for Martino on the 53-man squad, and second-year defensive end Ryan Russell took Martino’s spot on the 10-man practice squad.
